Salmon Fishing Scotland 2008 January Flood.

These are pictures taken at Stanley,Perthshire,Scotland to-day (26th January 2008)of a 17 foot or 5.5 metre flood above summer level.

I wonder if you could explain how you take your measurements. Surely the river is not actually 17 feet deeper than in summer, or is it?

The depth is taken from the Sepa station at Ballathie and yes it is the depth above normal summer level!

is that the highest you've seen it?

1993 was the biggest flood in recent years which was about 23 feet!
2006 in December was 18 feet.
