Salmon Fishing Scotland Spring Fly Fishing on the Tay, Perthshire March 2014.

Salmon Fishing Scotland Spring Fly Fishing on the Tay, Perthshire March 2014.

The river Tay in Perthshire, Scotland is currently at a high level due to rain and snow melt however there is a good spring salmon run in progress which is heartening and good catches are being achieved as the weather settles. Most of the spring salmon that are being caught in the river are falling to spinners however this week it has been proved fly fishing can be productive as well with the correct equipment.

There is a party of Swedish anglers fishing on the Stanley beats and they have caught spring salmon on the fly on both days.

This was Lars Persson playing a good salmon yesterday in the Minister on the Pitlochrie beat.

A top quality spring salmon from the Tay.

Anglers are by and large returning all their spring salmon to give us continued sport for the future. Thanks everyone as it is vital for the river and our local economy.
