Salmon Fishing Scotland Strange Fish on the Tay.

Salmon Fishing Scotland Strange Fish on the Tay.

Yesterday the Islamounth anglers had a strange encounter.
Scotish Ghillie Bill Campbell was mystified by an unbelievable catch. The boat was harling in the famous Long Head pool when the poker rod buckled over into a good fish.
After a lengthy fight the above fish came to the net. Bill was totally baffled by the bright colours of the fish. It was carefully weighed in the weigh net and weighed 14 pounds. The fish took a spoon harled on the fly rod. Help to identify the fish would be greatly appreciated.

i have actually caught one of these before on the Grainhead on a black orange and silver tube fly the fish is very rarely seen on the tay as it only swims up river for one day to spawn, the latin name is Billius Campbellius Clownis it is i believe a reef fish and a member of the clown species, hope this helps.

Family - Pomacentridae: Sub-family Amphiprioninae: Commonly known as the "Prolofail", this is an exceptionally large example of the species.
No need for C&R, as this is a sustainable species. Very good with chips.

Islamouth is renowned for its peculiar catches and captors.
