Salmon Fishing Scotland Spring Salmon fishing on the Tay, Perthshire March 2015.
The Tay in Perthshire spring salmon fishing season has entered March with great expectation after disappointing catches so far. This current week has got off to a reasonable start in fairly cold conditions as the river settles back from a weekend spate. March traditionally is a very good month especially on the lower river with cold water holding the spring salmon up and giving all the lower beats a great chance of a spring salmon before they run to the upper reaches.
This was Brian "HARLING" Brown with a superb 9 pounds fish caught in the famous Pitlochrie pool at Stanley today with the Upper Scone fishings.
Not content with catching one spring fish he duly caught another in the same afternoon with the assistance of ghillie Davie Seaton weighing an impressive 25 pounds. Not a bad afternoon for both anglers and great to see Pitlochrie pool producing spring salmon as it was one of the most prolific pools on the Tay in the spring when the spring dominated catches. There was another fish caught from the pool in the morning as well.
Andrew Rivers with a lovely fresh spring salmon from the Back Dam last week on the Catholes.
