Salmon Fishing Scotland Giant Salmon caught Fly Fishing on the Tay, Perthshire, Scotland.
This was a 54 pounds salmon caught on the Tay appearing in the Domesday book of giant salmon volume 2 written by Fred Buller.
The fish weighed 54 pounds and was caught by Jock Ness on the fly in the Catholes Stream on the Catholes beat at Stanley in 1942. Local farmer and well known Angler Jimmy Thom of the Byers tailed the fish. Both men were well known but are both sadly deceased.
With the Tay season being under a week away now hopefully some of these very large salmon will appear back this coming season as they have been making a come back in recent seasons all be it not in the 50 pounds class. We all live in hope that one day we can land a salmon like this one on the fly.
