Salmon Fishing Scotland Spring February 2009.

Salmon Fishing Scotland Spring February 2009.

This was Peter Callaghan from Bootle in Merseyside fly fishing from the boat in the Catholes stream on the Catholes beat of the lower Tay at Stanley ,Perthshire, Scotland.

Alistair Dunbar fly fishing from the boat in the Black stones. After we fished the Black stones we fly fished the Erics pool on the Stanley Bank and hooked a good spring salmon on a Temple Dog fly which fell off near the net. The conditions despite being very cold are ideal for fly fishing at the moment. Today the water temperature was very close to 34 degrees Fahrenheit or 1 degrees Celsius which will definitely slow any salmon down. Further downstream there was a 16 pounds fresh salmon caught on the fly Harling in the Horsey pool of the Pitlochrie beat and 2 salmon caught on the fly at Waulkmill harling as well.

This is the Hut on the Catholes beat. The fire is on to warm us up at Lunchtime.

What a fantastic photograph, like something out of a Fairy Tale.

A budding David Bailey or Lord Litchfield me thinks.
