There will be 2 major opening day ceremonies on the river. Firstly at Dunkeld.

Secondly there is a traditional opening of the salmon season on the River Tay held at Kenmore since 1947. Join the parade of fishermen to the river bank with the Vale of Atholl Junior Pipe Band, the 1st cast of the season will be made to mark the opening of the River Tay and a speaker will wish the anglers 'tight lines' for the season.

Kenmore are honoured to again welcome Provost Liz Grant of Perth City as well as the long established double act of Mark Stephen of BBC Radio Scotland and local fisherman Ally Gowans. The day starts at 0900 with an address by Provost Liz Grant, Ally Gowans and Mark Stephen after which there is the traditional march behind the pipe band to the water’s edge for the first cast.

This is a flavour of spring salmon fishing on the Tay.
