Salmon Fishing Scotland Spring Salmon Fishing February 2010 on the Tay.

Salmon Fishing Scotland Spring Salmon Fishing February 2010 on the Tay.

After the milder weather yesterday and rain the river rose overnight from 2 feet to nearly 4 feet and was slightly coloured first thing in the morning. We still gave it a go.

James McKay hooks a good fish but was it a springer? The Salmon fought very hard and ran all over the Ship Linn pool of the Benchil beat just below Stanley, Perthshire, Scotland.

Alas it turned out to be a 16 pounds Kelt in very good condition. Shame for James who thought it was a good spring salmon as it never gave up. This salmon would have been a healthy 20 pound salmon plus when it first entered the river. Hopefully it will survive and come back again as possibly a 30 plus pound Tay Salmon.

it wont come back as a thirty pounder because the four seals i saw fishing below perth at the harbour (and catching and eating fish yesterday) will gobble it up!
