Salmon Fishing Scotland Big Spring Salmon caught on Fly in mighty Tay, Perthshire 2015.

Salmon Fishing Scotland Big Spring Salmon caught on Fly in mighty Tay, Perthshire 2015.

The Tay in Perthshire is having an excellent weeks spring salmon fishing with the best part of 50 salmon registered so far and only 2 days into the current week. The quality of spring salmon running the river has been outstanding with fish up to and over 30 pounds caught so far this season. Yesterday 2 spring salmon were caught weighing over 30 pounds.
Gary Waugh had a day to remember on the Findynate beat near Grandtully. He caught this incredible 32 pounds spring salmon fly fishing which could be a creditable candidate for the Fishpal Malloch Trophy in 2015. Gary had a mighty battle with this Leviathan as is ran down the Grandtully rapids 3 times in an over an hour fight. Well done Gary! Gary also caught 2 other springers in his day at 10 and 12 pound. All the fish fell to a yellow and silver 1 inch tube fly.
Fly fishing for spring salmon has also been successful for a group of Swedish fly fishermen on the lower Tay at Stanley.
Bengt Stadling with a fresh 8 pounds salmon caught at Stanley Mills on the Pitlochrie beat.
Kent Hallberg with a 10 pounds salmon caught fly fishing in Horsey at Stanley.
