hi Bob, can you let me know if you are getting the rods at this time of year?. Is the spring fish arriving in any numbers and maybe passing through?. Basically what are the prospects of hooking a fresh one.....

we should stop fishing in the spring, we can all see there is not enough fish.what is caught now for the full spring run,is less than a days catch on the top tay beats in the years gone by.im 76 years old, and feel realy sad to see, the river being run into the ground.there will be people out there, like myself who can remember when you looked over the kings bridge and kinclaven at times all you could see was fish.i will not name beats, but a years catch now is less than i've seen caught in a day.the nets rapped the river for years, now the beat owners are taking the last pound out of this river.there are many problems for these fish, give them a chance to recover.

Dr H T Rupe has obviously many years experience of the river and has expressed his opinions on the blog. I would like to hear from others who have many years experience on this river. I am doing a paper on the effects of global warming in relation to reducing numbers of salmon.(University project).I found this blog and believe it could be a very effective site for people to express and share important opinions in what the tay system was like years ago and what it is today. Please share your invaluable memories.
