This was some action from the Upper Scone beat today (2/09/2009).
Scottish Ghillie Dave Barwick unhooks a good salmon which was caught by Charles Savage on a Rapala in the Horsey pool of the Pitlochrie beat at Stanley, Perthshire, Scotland.

After the photographs the salmon was released back to the river.
Everyone watches as the magnificent salmon swims away to fight another day. Well done Charles these big hen salmon are so valuable to the Tay this year when runs are not that great. Thank you.

The correct fly was chosen as Robin holds up his catch, a lovely fresh Tay Grilse.

September salmon fishing on the river Tay in Perthshire, Scotland is now underway with great expectation after mixed fortunes in August and one of the wettest months on record.
Michael Watts into a good salmon on the rapala in the Aitken Head pool of the Benchil beat of the lower Tay just below Stanley, Perthshire, Scotland.
The fresh 13 pounds salmon was successfully landed, photographed then carefully returned to the river.
This was Michael playing another salmon earlier in the week but alas this one got away.
